DISCO ROBOTO [2016]
Robot Rock 2.0 was somewhat successful for me...I built a plastic vacuformer from scratch and was able to make custom panels from styrene that could be painted with automotive grade paint and clear coat. Unfortunately the torso cabinet I built was too small, restrictive, and extremely uncomfortable to wear!
I opted to construct an entirely new torso in order to address these issues. I utilized a CAD program to design the chest, shoulder and back panels and was able to have templates printed on card stock which was very helpful in making the vacuform molds. The torso was constructed from PVC sheet as before, but I had the front and rear sections cut on a waterjet machine for a more precise fit.
I also reworked my vacuform setup to get better quality pulls. You can read more about that HERE.
Based on feedback from previous events I performed at I decided to install a secondary speaker system on the back of the torso. Disco Roboto now has Surround Sound!
An improved lighting system brings back the white/amber strobes from my first Robot Costume. I always loved those.
Legs and Boots were custom built for me by my friends at:
